Thought Industries Inc. has introduced Lens, a new artificial intelligence offering that identifies inconsistencies in product knowledge before that information reaches customers. The tool integrates with Thought Industries Academy, the company's established learning management software, to form what the organization is calling a Customer Knowledge AI Platform.

The initiative addresses a widespread organizational challenge: fragmented knowledge repositories. At many organizations, customer-facing and product information resides in whatever department created it, often in isolation from other teams. As AI systems now pull answers from these multiple disconnected sources, customers frequently receive conflicting responses to identical questions. This inconsistency can reduce customer adoption and engagement with products, Thought Industries contends.

Lens operates by connecting to existing repositories where companies store their materials—help documentation, product guides and similar resources—without requiring data migration. A layer the company terms a governed knowledge layer sits atop these sources, where Lens agents identify conflicting information. Organizations define their own trust rules in straightforward language, and when products evolve, the agents update relevant guidance accordingly.

Customers can retrieve answers from Lens directly within the product interface or through their preferred AI assistant. Beyond answering questions, the agents can execute tasks and workflows. The system also logs incoming queries, helping businesses identify which product features generate the most customer confusion.

Thought Industries argues that competing solutions overlook conflict detection between sources. The company views Model Context Protocol connectors and embedded AI systems in individual platforms as primarily retrieval mechanisms rather than validation tools. Chief Executive Irana Wasti stated: "When every agent is working from a different version of product knowledge, they can simply spread wrong answers faster." According to Wasti, customers who receive accurate information "use more, buy more and stay longer."

The Linux Foundation, which operates training and certification initiatives for open-source projects, intends to deploy Lens. Clyde Seepersad, senior vice president and general manager of education at the foundation, noted that the information users seek often exists across systems beyond the learning platform itself. The foundation will maintain authority over what information surfaces, Seepersad said, and incoming queries should provide "a much clearer picture of what customers need."

Thought Industries is also repositioning its market messaging. The company now targets customer and product leaders specifically, emphasizing the competitive advantage of consolidating dispersed knowledge. Academy continues functioning as the core learning engine, delivering courses, learning paths and certifications, with AI-driven recommendations guiding learner progression.

Lens is available in beta starting today. Thought Industries, which has operated as a private equity-backed firm since launching its customer training software in 2013, received a strategic growth investment from Luminate Capital Partners in 2019.
