Profound reaches unicorn status with $180M Series D, capitalizing on AI search optimization demand
The marketing software platform, which helps companies optimize their presence in AI-powered search results, has now raised $180 million at a $1.8 billion valuation just seven months after closing its previous funding round.

Profound announced on Tuesday that it has secured $180 million in Series D funding, achieving a $1.8 billion valuation. The round came less than seven months after the company's $96 million Series C closing. Sequoia and Kleiner Perkins led the investment, with participation from returning backers Lightspeed Venture Partners, Khosla Ventures, and South Park Commons.
Founded two years ago as an analytics tool, Profound has evolved into a broader platform that enables companies to develop and refine marketing strategies. The platform's core function centers on helping businesses understand how AI systems influence consumer discovery of their products and services.
The company operates within the growing GEO/AEO sector—generative engine optimization and answer engine optimization—where emerging startups focus on ensuring their clients' offerings gain visibility within the AI systems that consumers increasingly rely on for search queries.
Profound reports that its revenue has tripled over the past six months. The platform now serves more than 1,000 enterprise customers, including Comcast, The Estée Lauder Companies, and Walmart.
