Eve Closes $103M Series B to Expand AI-Powered Legal Automation Platform
The legal tech startup has tripled its customer base to over 450 law firms and now processes more than 200,000 cases annually with its AI-driven document and task automation tools.

Butler Labs Inc., operating under the brand Eve, announced completion of a $103 million Series B funding round aimed at scaling its artificial intelligence platform for law firms. Spark Capital led the financing, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Menlo Ventures—the latter having previously invested in the company's $47 million Series A in January.
The startup's user base has grown substantially since the earlier round, expanding to encompass more than 450 law firms. The company now handles processing of over 200,000 cases on an annual basis and has achieved a valuation exceeding $1 billion.
Core Capabilities
Eve's platform leverages AI to handle routine legal work that would otherwise consume attorney time. The system can evaluate case intake materials to assess the viability of potential claims, a function the company claims saves customers approximately 15 hours weekly.
Once a law firm accepts a case, the platform generates document summaries with particular strength in medical litigation scenarios. Its capabilities include pulling critical data points from medical records and flagging inconsistencies or errors within those documents.
The platform extends to document creation, automatically producing new files based on firm templates and historical archives while maintaining the writing patterns of individual attorneys. Features include generation of demand letters—documents outlining settlement alternatives to litigation—as well as discovery requests used to obtain evidence from opposing counsel.
Eve can also process incoming discovery requests, using its AI to identify requests that are overly broad or impractical to fulfill. Administrative functions have been enhanced with a recently added invoicing tool that streamlines client billing processes.
Recent Product Updates
In May, Eve introduced Reasoning Mode, a feature powered by reasoning models that identifies discrepancies across legal documents and constructs litigation strategies for newly initiated cases.
Strategic Direction
The company plans to deploy the new capital toward expanding its product development, customer onboarding and support operations. According to co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Jay Madheswaran, "From first intake call to final judgment, AI should strengthen every stage of a case. That's why the majority of our funding goes directly toward building the best team to support the best-in-class product for our customers."
Eve joins a growing cohort of legal technology firms securing substantial funding. Filevine Inc., a competing case management platform provider, closed a $400 million investment last week, while Eudia, an automation software vendor serving in-house legal departments, raised $105 million in February.
