Blacksmith reaches $1B valuation with $66M Series C from Sequoia
The developer platform for building and testing software, including AI-generated code, has achieved unicorn status just two months after its previous funding round.

Blacksmith, which provides infrastructure for companies to construct and validate software more effectively—including applications built with AI—announced a $66 million Series C funding round on Wednesday, led by Sequoia Capital. The round values the company at $1 billion.
Aditya Jayaprakash, co-founder and CEO of Blacksmith, explained in a blog post that the company was established to address a critical pain point in continuous integration (CI), the practice of assembling, validating, combining, and confirming code modifications. "Most companies are struggling to keep up with the volume of CI they need to run," he noted, particularly as artificial intelligence increasingly generates code. "As agents write more of the world's software, the question that matters is whether it can be trusted," Jayaprakash added.
The platform has demonstrated substantial growth metrics: annual recurring revenue has expanded 17-fold, and the system has processed more than 90 million CI jobs—discrete automated code validation operations. Mercury and Granola are among the company's customer base.
This Series C round arrives merely eight weeks following Blacksmith's $45 million Series B, which had valued the company at $550 million. Twelve months prior, the company had secured $10 million in Series A funding at a $60 million valuation. Across all funding stages, Blacksmith has accumulated $125 million in total capital.
