ASI Reaches $3B Valuation With $325M Series C for AI Infrastructure Control
The artificial intelligence startup, which develops simulation systems for aviation, defense and energy operations, has secured funding led by Spark Capital to expand into new sectors including logistics.

ASI Inc., an artificial intelligence company focused on building sophisticated simulations of air traffic and energy systems, announced a $325 million Series C funding round that values the startup at $3 billion. Spark Capital led the investment, with participation from Citadel Securities, Craft Ventures, Meritech Capital, Energy Impact Partners and Andreessen Horowitz.
The company, formerly known as Air Space Intelligence, creates frontier AI models that simulate physical reality and project future scenarios. This allows customers operating critical infrastructure to make real-time decisions about their operations. ASI serves aviation, defense and energy sectors, partnering with organizations including the Federal Aviation Administration, United Airlines Inc., Delta Air Lines Inc., the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.
For aviation customers, ASI's platform ingests flight path data, live air traffic information, weather conditions and controller availability to forecast congestion and recommend solutions that reduce delays and enhance safety. In the defense space, the company provides AI-powered command-and-control software for military operations management. Energy sector clients, including grid operators, use ASI's tools to model grid operations and prepare for demand fluctuations.
ASI founder and Chief Executive Phillip Buckendorf stated that future economic development depends on equipping infrastructure operators with predictive capabilities to prevent failures. "While the broader tech ecosystem spent hundreds of billions teaching AI to manipulate words and generate text, ASI is deeply focused on AI systems that can manage and control physical assets," he said. "This capital ensures ASI scales as America's engine: the automated nervous system keeping the country running."

The funding announcement follows a landmark contract win in June, when ASI secured an $875 million multiyear agreement with the FAA to manage future air traffic operations across the United States using its AI platform. The company prevailed over larger competitors including Palantir Technologies Inc. and Thales SE, according to Bloomberg. The FAA deployed ASI's software at Dulles International Airport in Washington DC last month and intends to roll it out to all major U.S. airports.
The FAA contract positioned ASI as one of only four technology companies to secure a federal contract of that magnitude since 2000. More recently, the startup agreed to a five-year, $99 million deal with the U.S. Army to deliver AI software for its command-and-control program. National Grid USA Service Company Inc. represents another significant customer, utilizing ASI's platform for operational planning.
ASI plans to deploy the new capital to deepen its presence in aviation, defense and energy while entering adjacent sectors such as logistics. The company also intends to expand its research and engineering staff to enhance its software capabilities.
