AI Assistants Dominate Weekly Funding Surge, With Instinct Leading $250M Round
Artificial intelligence startups captured the lion's share of major venture capital this week, with an AI assistant developer securing the largest check and nine other companies raising between $75 million and $240 million.

Following the week of August 22–28, the Crunchbase database tracked the ten largest announced funding rounds for U.S. companies. The results reveal a landscape increasingly dominated by AI-focused enterprises, though overall deal sizes trended smaller compared to recent weeks.
Instinct, a San Francisco-based developer of AI assistants, topped the list with a $250 million Series B round that valued the company at $2.5 billion. According to reporting from The Wall Street Journal citing founder Noah Shinn, Index Ventures and Benchmark led the investment.
Owner, which provides AI-powered tools enabling local businesses to automate website creation, online and phone ordering, mobile apps, and customer support functions, raised $240 million. Goldman Sachs Growth Equity led the round, placing the eight-year-old San Francisco firm at a $2.3 billion valuation.
Two companies tied for third place, each securing $200 million. Generalist AI, a San Francisco startup building an AI foundation model compatible with multiple robot systems, closed an extension of its June Series B. The investment was led by 8VC. Separately, Gatik, a Santa Clara-based autonomous trucking operator, completed a $200 million Series D with Qatar Investment Authority and Koch Disruptive Technologies as lead investors. The nine-year-old company operates driverless trucks.
Socure, an Incline Village, Nevada company offering identity, risk and compliance tools, raised $156 million in growth funding while also acquiring Fravity, an agentic platform for fraud and compliance operations. Summit Partners led the round, valuing Socure at $5.2 billion.
Emerald AI, based in Washington, D.C., brought in $150 million in Series A funding for its software platform that manages AI computational workloads against available energy resources in data centers. Energize Capital and DCVC led the financing, establishing a $1.05 billion valuation.
Two additional companies each raised $120 million. Regent Craft, a Rhode Island developer of high-speed winged sea vessels, closed $120 million in Series B equity funding led by Mare Liberum and AE Industrial Partners, plus an additional $120 million in debt from Erebor Bank. AusperBio, a San Francisco biopharma startup developing therapeutics for chronic hepatitis B and other conditions, secured $120 million in Series C funding from new and existing backers to fund clinical trials for its lead therapeutic.
Stability AI, a Los Angeles-based creator of AI products for professional creatives in music, gaming and entertainment, announced a $76 million Series B round supported by numerous venture and strategic investors.
Rounding out the top ten, Blank Street, a Brooklyn-based coffee and matcha drink chain, raised $75 million from investors including General Atlantic to fund West Coast expansion plans. The company also completed $30 million in secondary market transactions.

The Crunchbase database was used to identify the largest announced funding rounds raised by U.S.-based companies during the August 22–28 period. While most announced rounds appear in the database, some reporting delays may occur as certain rounds are disclosed later in the week.
