OpenAI's Dots Leader to Discuss AI Autonomy at Disrupt 2026
Alexander Embiricos, who oversees OpenAI's new always-on personal AI agent, will appear at TechCrunch Disrupt next month to explore the trust and control questions surrounding autonomous AI systems.

OpenAI has placed a significant wager on the next generation of AI technology beyond conversational chatbots. The executive responsible for shepherding that initiative will take the stage at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, scheduled for October 13-15 in San Francisco.
Alexander Embiricos serves as product lead for Dots, OpenAI's newly unveiled always-on personal AI agent. He will appear at Moscone West just days after the company's public introduction of the product.

Dots represent a departure from traditional chatbot interactions. The agents operate on their own cloud infrastructure, integrate with everyday applications, and can pursue objectives autonomously in the background—potentially granting AI systems substantially deeper involvement in users' professional and personal digital activities.
What happens when AI starts acting for us?
This expanded autonomy introduces profound challenges that extend well beyond technical capability.
Critical questions emerge about the boundaries of user agency: How readily will people accept delegating decisions to AI systems? Which actions should these agents take without explicit permission? As these systems accumulate knowledge about users and gain entry to increasingly confidential data, can organizations like OpenAI establish sufficient credibility to justify widespread adoption?
Embiricos will participate in a dedicated session titled "What Comes After the Chatbot?" where he will discuss the philosophy underlying Dots, OpenAI's vision for the trajectory of personal agents, and the role that trust and privacy safeguards may play in determining commercial success.
The conference will feature more than 250 technology executives participating across 200+ sessions distributed across six industry stages, roundtables, and breakout sessions at Moscone West from October 13–15. Attendees will have opportunities to network with approximately 10,000 founders, investors, and operators.
