Attending the inaugural European edition of HumanX, an artificial intelligence conference held in Amsterdam, provided an opportunity to engage with a fresh wave of AI-focused startups. The mission remained consistent: identify and document the narratives behind technological breakthroughs reshaping the software industry. The conference delivered on that promise, surfacing multiple organizations committed to translating AI aspirations into tangible operational capabilities.

Beyond the prevailing noise surrounding artificial intelligence, these ten vendors demonstrated a singular focus: enabling their customers to extract genuine business value from AI investments. They are closing what might be called the gap between organizational desire for AI capabilities and the practical ability to implement functioning systems at scale.

The Vendors

8wave Oy

The platform aggregates an organization's complete AI operations by maintaining visibility into data lineage across all AI applications. This creates what amounts to "enterprise resource planning or ERP for AI operations," linking AI initiatives directly to the business metrics that matter most.

Core innovation: The company has expanded the traditional concept of data lineage into "AI lineage," establishing connections between source data and the organization's fundamental business drivers through AI systems.

Bosun B.V.

This vendor automates maintenance activities across aging software systems using artificial intelligence, handling security patches, library updates and certain legacy system modernization efforts. A parity file mechanism monitors each legacy system's behavior, allowing teams to evaluate differences between original and modified versions.

Core innovation: The parity file documents legacy application behavior through inputs and outputs in a format that humans can read and modify, permitting organizations to apply updates and patches while reducing the likelihood of introducing new problems.

Clarifeye SAS

The offering functions as an "AI consultant" conducting structured conversations with organizational experts to surface institutional knowledge residing within people rather than systems. This knowledge combines with information from other sources to enable companies to construct accurate process maps, business rules and operational playbooks reflecting genuine business behavior.

Core innovation: While many AI systems extract information from structured digital sources—documents, databases, applications—Clarifeye uniquely incorporates the informal institutional knowledge that describes how organizations genuinely function.

Distil labs GmbH

The platform reduces friction in building specialized or smaller language models, allowing customers to substantially decrease token expenses compared to large language models. The approach involves iterative fine-tuning of existing models using corporate and synthetic training data to produce customized SLMs aligned with specific business needs.

Core innovation: The company's automated, iterative methodology for developing SLMs functions across any use case and any customer base, unlike prebuilt SLM options available elsewhere that deliver only predetermined, fixed capabilities.

Reasoning Engines B.V. (LangWatch)

Operating under the business name LangWatch, this vendor delivers simulation-based testing and assessment for AI agents. The platform deploys agents that mimic human behavior when interacting with applications being tested, then iteratively refines test cases based on observed results and uses these tests for agent evaluation.

Core innovation: Beyond simulated user interactions, LangWatch has adopted the Jev AI model from TypeSafe AI, Inc., which substantially accelerates agent evaluation and LLM-as-a-Judge functionality, removing the primary obstacle to comprehensive agent assessment.

Orq.ai Holding B.V.

The platform supports agentic AI development and deployment through a dual-structure approach: centralized governance paired with distributed, business-unit-specific agent capabilities.

The centralized layer functions as an agentic center of excellence, establishing organization-wide governance through policies, guardrails and audit capabilities. Individual teams operating within this framework can select and deploy any agentic technologies while adhering to the center's standards and requirements.

Core innovation: The company applies platform engineering principles within its dual-layer design, where the engineering team establishes a preferred tooling pathway for distributed teams, harmonizing centralized governance priorities with varied business requirements.

Safe Intelligence Ltd.

The offering provides iterative testing capabilities for agentic applications to identify and eliminate failure modes, strengthening application resilience. Testing tools execute numerous scenarios, pinpoint failures and diagnose underlying causes, then recommend improvements for each iteration.

Core innovation: Safe identifies multiple failure categories, spanning model deficiencies, overly restrictive or misaligned governance controls, and business logic or coding issues that other testing platforms may overlook.

Softr Platforms GmbH

The no-code platform enables construction of portals, internal tools and applications through enterprise-grade backend infrastructure encompassing scalable hosting, security, access management and policy enforcement.

While Softr provides a visual development interface similar to pre-generative-AI no-code tools, most current customers bring their selected coding agent to the platform, utilizing Softr's backend to safely operationalize AI-generated applications.

Core innovation: Generative AI substantially disrupted the low-code and no-code sector by providing citizen developers with a conversational interface as an alternative to traditional development. Softr endured this disruption by demonstrating superior backend support for AI-generated applications.

Tekst.ai BV

The vendor applies artificial intelligence to transform process mining by examining all organizational mailboxes handling customer requests. Merging this customer-focused data with conventional process mining sources—databases and API calls—enables delivery of process intelligence surpassing competing tools in both accuracy and speed.

Core innovation: By incorporating unstructured data into process mining, Tekst furnishes organizations with more comprehensive and precise process visibility approaching real-time performance.

Unfold AI Products Ltd. (UnfoldAI)

Operating as UnfoldAI, the vendor employs various technologies to retrieve information from restricted or largely restricted systems, then standardizes that data for consumption through the model context protocol. The platform accesses APIs, databases, network traffic and file systems while incorporating documentation to organize and deliver data to consuming applications.

Core innovation: UnfoldAI functions as AI middleware—unglamorous but indispensable infrastructure software. Its capacity to connect to data sources within closed systems grants organizations access to otherwise unavailable information essential for constructing effective AI applications.

What Connects Them

These ten vendors share two defining characteristics. First, each drives advancement in artificial intelligence by enabling customers to realize business value from AI investments. Second, all are European organizations.

While HumanX Amsterdam represents a European conference, such events typically host numerous participants from the United States and elsewhere. Geography played no deliberate role in assembling this list. Rather, European vendors organically emerged as standouts based on their innovation capabilities.

This surge in European AI innovation stems partly from European organizations' sovereignty imperatives—driven by regulatory frameworks and recognition that the United States presents elevated business risks. Europe's competitive position strengthens as the continent becomes a center of AI innovation, even as discourse focuses on U.S.-China competition over cutting-edge models.

The takeaway: disregard the surrounding hype. European vendors are demonstrating how to align AI strategies with deployable solutions delivering measurable business impact.
