Nvidia Pivots to Enterprise AI as Open-Source Models Drive Adoption
During its Q2 2026 earnings call, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang highlighted open-source AI's role in accelerating enterprise adoption while the company launches new GPU-powered servers targeting large organizations.

Dive Brief
- During Wednesday's Q2 2026 earnings call covering the three months through July 27, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized how open-source AI models are enabling broader enterprise participation in artificial intelligence.
- "Open-source models are opening up large enterprise, SaaS companies, industrial companies, robotics companies to now join the AI revolution," said Huang. "It's really fueled the adoption of AI in enterprises around the world because enterprises want to build their own custom proprietary software stacks," he added.
- Nvidia introduced the RTX Pro server, a GPU-powered platform unveiled this month and already deployed by Disney, Hyundai, Lilly, SAP and other major corporations. The system addresses "standard IT environments and [runs] traditional enterprise IT applications, as well as the most advanced agentic and physical AI applications," according to Nvidia EVP and CFO Colette Kress. She projected that "RTX PRO servers are poised to become a multibillion-dollar product line" as enterprises upgrade their infrastructure.
Dive Insight
Nvidia's transformation from a specialized gaming chip maker into a dominant cloud infrastructure provider has been extraordinary, with revenues climbing triple-digit percentages year-over-year for five consecutive quarters through July 2024. The rise of large language models, primarily driven by hyperscale cloud operators, expanded Nvidia's quarterly sales nearly sevenfold over the past three years.
The company generated $46.7 billion in revenue last quarter, though year-over-year growth decelerated to 56%, compared with 69% the prior quarter and 122% in Q2 2025. Kress indicated that Q3 would follow a comparable pattern, with revenue growth anticipated in the mid-fifty-percent range reaching approximately $54 billion.

Hyperscaler capital spending on AI infrastructure has been the primary engine behind Nvidia's expansion. Google Cloud recently boosted its annual commitment by $10 billion to $85 billion. Microsoft plans to invest $30 billion in the coming quarter to meet surging demand for cloud and AI capabilities, while AWS, the largest of the three major hyperscalers, has committed $100 billion this year to capital expenditures.
As momentum extended beyond big tech into the enterprise sector, Nvidia coordinated with its manufacturing partners to begin delivering GPU-powered DGX Spark PCs and DGX Station desktop systems last month.
Server sales have already experienced a notable surge based on IDC findings. In the first quarter of the year, GPU appetite drove the server sector's biggest quarterly expansion in 25 years, with revenues jumping 134% to $95.2 billion.
Market observers, however, anticipate a broader deceleration in GPU sales expansion, even as enterprise demand strengthens, primarily because smaller models consume less computational power. The AI infrastructure sector, which expanded 250% between 2022 and 2024, is projected to grow 67% year-over-year in 2025, per Omdia analysis released Thursday.
The shift towards smaller, specialized models is slowing demand for AI computing, as are generation-on-generation improvements in AI model efficiency. These improvements include better curation of training datasets, advances in fundamental model design, and operational optimizations in inference.

Nvidia is relying on a broad portfolio of hardware and software offerings to maintain its growth trajectory.
We're famous for building the GPU and investing the GPU but, as you know, over the last decade we've really transitioned to become an AI infrastructure company.
Jensen Huang
With AI applications multiplying across industries, Nvidia anticipates that both hyperscaler and enterprise infrastructure demands will expand correspondingly.
We are at the beginning of an industrial revolution that will transform every industry.
Colette Kress
The company projects that infrastructure spending will reach $3 trillion to $4 trillion over the next decade.
